The 3Com MSR 50 Multi-Service card (MSCA) module hosts service-enabling processor engines such as Enhanced Services Modules (ESM), Voice Processor Modules (VPM) and Voice Co-Processing Modules (VCPM). The MSCA is a high performance multi-service module with expansion bays for voice processing and encryption acceleration. Two ESM bays provide support for multiple network data encryption accelerators, either standard (SNDE) or advanced (ANDE) versions to provide increased encryption throughput.

A Voice Co-Processor Processing Module (VCPM) bay enhances TDM voice support and reducing load on the router's main processor. Four Voice Processing Module (VPM) bays allow for flexible choice of voice modules to be installed enabling voice encoding capacity to be aligned with requirements.
