ADTRAN LIU Dual T1

The Adtran Total Access 1500 Dual T1 Line Interface Unit (LIU) is a common module plug-in unit that connects the channel bank to a T1 line at the DSX-1 level. All data formatting and line encoding, as well as backplane timing and control, are performed by the ACT LIU. The LIU can be provisioned locally with on-board switches, remotely through the SCU craft interface or remotely through network management. The on-board switches are a subset of the provisioning parameters. All parameters are available when provisioning through the craft interface. A faceplate LED indicates whether the LIU operation mode is based on local or remote provisioning parameters. A dual bantam jack located on the faceplate provides test access of the T1 data stream.

The Dual T1 LIU offers up to two T1s of network bandwidth for POTS and special services deployment from the Total Access 1500. The Dual LIU can be deployed in a universal COT/RT configuration or in an integrated RT-only configuration. When used in a universal configuration, the Dual LIU provides 48 DS0s of POTS and special services. When used in an integrated configuration, the Dual LIU will support up to 48 POTS circuits.
