The ADTRAN DS0 DP Infinity is an all rate Digital Signal Zero Dataport designed for use in D4 and SLC-96 compatible channel banks used in cross connect applications for DDS and Switched 56 services. It plugs into one physical slot of a D4 channel bank and converts DDS or Switched 56 bytes in bursts of eight bits at the DS1, 1.544 Mbps to and from a continuous DS0, 64 kbps rate. With the DS0 DP Infinity, DDS may be provisioned at all rates with or without secondary channel. Innovations in ADTRAN's latest DS0 DP design have eliminated almost all concerns over ESD. The condensed circuitry allows craft personnel the ability to install and service the unit without coming into contact with vulnerable electronics. The unit may operate in 64 kbps clear channel mode when connected to DDS or Frame Relay services provisioned for 64 kbps. By maintaining DS1 frame alignment, the DS0 DP Infinity permits Telcos to pass Switched 56 signaling bits transparently across the tandem. This prevents Telcos from having to stock two separate units for DDS and Switched 56 tandem applications.
