AT-AR027 FXS (Foreign Exchange Service) port interface cards (PIC) allow up to eight telephones, or faxes, to be connected to a local area network when combined with an AT router. The system allows low-density, high-quality, full duplex, inter-site voice/fax communication over IP.

The AT-AR027 FXS digitizes the audio signal coming from the telephone or fax, compresses it and packetises it before passing the data to the router for transmission over the TCP/IP network.
