The AU-E-BS Access Unit model is comprised of an indoor module (BS-AU) and an AU-RE outdoor unit, which contains a radio module and an RF connector for a separate external antenna (the external antenna is sold separately to the unit).

A coaxial cable connects the indoor module to the outdoor unit and serves for the transmission of signals as well as for transferring power, management and control signals from the indoor module to the outdoor unit. Connectivity to the network is established through a standard IEEE 802.3 Ethernet 10BaseT (RJ 45) interface.
