This innovative kit includes all the hardware and software needed to painlessly transfer all the data from an old hard drive to a new hard drive in three easy steps. This truly universal upgrade solution works with the most popular 2.5" notebook drives on the market including the new standard SATA hard drives as well as the IDE/PATA hard drives which have been the standard for years. Once you have installed your new drive, EZ Upgrade transforms the old hard drive from the notebook into a portable Hi-Speed USB 2.0 external backup and/or storage solution.

EZ Upgrade includes: Apricorn's EZ Gig II Cloning and Imaging software for Windows and ShirtPocket SuperDuper! Cloning software for Mac, a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 hard drive enclosure (USB 1.1 compatible) and USB cable.

Three simple steps to upgrade your notebook hard drive: 1: Slide the new hard drive into the EZ Upgrade enclosure, using the included USB cable, connect the EZ Upgrade to the notebook's USB port; 2: Run EZ Gig II's cloning utility by booting to the CD, follow the prompts; 3: Finally, install the new hard drive into the notebook.

EZ Gig II Upgrade & Backup software gives the user two options to upgrade or backup their data.

The Clone option creates an exact clone of a hard drive and is perfect for upgrading hard drives, or for a creating a Disaster Recovery clone - the ultimate backup solution.

The Image option is the ideal backup tool. EZ Gig II creates a compressed "image" of an entire hard drive, or an individual partition of a hard drive. At its maximum setting, the Image option can compress data to less than 1/2 its original size, allowing backups to be made to a smaller hard drive, or multiple backups to a large hard drive.

EZ Gig II also provides password protection for backup images, a comments field so each image can be labeled and easily identified, and verification that the image is complete. The EZ Gig II File Editor allows editing or restoration of individual files or folders.
