The AlterPath KVM family of CAT-5 KVM switches provides IT professionals with an enterprise-class secure KVM solution for managing Windows, Sun and Linux/UNIX servers with simple cabling, advanced security and expandability for future needs.

The AlterPath KVM uses CAT-5 KVM cabling, which means cleaner cabling setup and access to servers located far away from the KVM switch. The use of CAT-5 cabling allows for the use of existing cabling infrastructure in the data center, which makes system setup a snap. Supporting distances of up to 500 ft between the switch and the managed servers, the AlterPath KVM and KVM over IP is sure to reach even the most remote server in the data center.

KVM over IP security features include server-based authentication support for RADIUS, TACACS+, LDAP and Kerberos, user access lists per port and user access logging. AlterPath KVM's power integration allows the data center managers and system administrators to manage their servers with greater control.

KVM over IP cascading support with centralized port management allows the AlterPath KVM to increase the number of managed servers without losing the initial investment or the advantage of a centralized configuration and access interface. This allows data center managers to expand their coverage as the data center grows.

Instead of using proprietary software technologies, the AlterPath KVM leverages Open Source software (Linux), giving users the freedom to customize its operation, modifying or adding features as needed.
