Canary's enhanced, Single-Fiber media converters, allow two independent data channels to be transmitted over standard, duplex, single-mode, fiber optic segments - in effect, doubling bandwidth access!
Each converter transmits and receives data bi-directionally using two wavelengths over a single strand of single-mode, fiber optic cable.
Use Canary's single-Fiber converters, one set on each fiber optic strand for connecting two pairs of Ethernet devices at each end of the duplex fiber segment. Or, use one pair on one fiber strand to maintain your existing Ethernet link while using the second strand to add an additional service or protocol. For example, a duplex segment could carry an additional CCTV (closed circuit TV) channel in parallel with the preexisting Ethernet traffic - all without the expense of adding a new, dedicated, single-mode fiber cable. Extra bandwidth is easily made available!
Each standalone, Single-Fiber converter model can be used with similar models available for Canary's unmanaged 16-slot, and 4 and 20-slot managed, 19-inch, rack-mount media converter chassis. Performance is identical in either case.
