EMC Centera Intra-Cluster 4-Node Data Migration services enable you to quickly and seamlessly migrate data from earlier-generation nodes to new, higher capacity, energy-efficient generation 4 LP nodes. Expert integration of your new nodes delivers the fastest return on investment and minimizes risks inherent when making technology changes.
EMC Centera Intra-Cluster 4-Node Data Migration begins with an assessment of your environment, operational goals, and business objectives. The migration service includes project management, system qualification, installation, and configuration of the EMC migration tool, migration activities, and a reconciliation of your source and target clusters for a defined number of nodes in your EMC Centera cluster.
Discovery, analysis, and planning
EMC conducts a pre-implementation review meeting including review of the project scope and limitations, and verification that your EMC Centera qualifies for this type of migration. EMC develops a mutually agreed upon timeline for the engagement and schedules a kickoff meeting. Once the project timeline and deliverables have been reviewed and approved, EMC performs the pre-migration activities - running a health and integrity check on your cluster, looking for pre-existing issues, installing new nodes, putting nodes to be retired into a no-write state, and configuring the message-of-the-day to notify you and EMC resources of the in-progress migration status.
Migration and testing
EMC performs the installation and configuration of the EMC Centera Intra-Cluster Migration tool. Once the tool is installed, EMC's service professionals execute, monitor, and manage the data migration process. After the migration is complete, another integrity check is executed and compared with the output of the pre-migration check. The project team also performs a final validation that all EMC Centera applications are running properly and coordinates the removal of any retired hardware.
Documentation, functional product overview, and acceptanceProduct Highlights
After the implementation is complete, EMC Global Services professionals validate the implementation by executing a final reconciliation report and reviewing the results with you. There is a functional overview, including sign-off, ensuring the service meets your needs. Throughout the engagement, as appropriate, project status will be provided.
