Customers can now integrate applications like the award winning Enterasys Dragon IDS/IPS Technology directly into the Matrix N series chassis with the Matrix Security Module. The Matrix Security Module is an open all purpose processor that provides the capability to add applications directly into the network switch infrastructure. The first applications to be integrated onto the Matrix Security Module are the Dragon IDS/IPS and the Sentinel Trusted Access Gateway. The Matrix Security Module fits in the Network Expansion Module (NEM) slot on a Matrix N series DFE, integrating technology into the N series without occupying any of the main chassis slots. The Matrix Security Module provides value because it leverages existing networking and security resources and expertise. The design eliminates external cabling between network switches and security appliances and conserves space in a 19" rack. It also provides seamless integration with the Matrix N flow architecture for rapid reconfiguration.

The Sentinel Trusted Access Gateway Module integrates the Sentinel access control solution into the matrix switch. The Sentinel Trusted Access Gateway brokers authentication, authorization, and end user health analysis so that unauthorized or compromised systems are kept off the network or self remediated prior to allowing access.
