The Personality Modules from Fluke Networks provide the plug at the end of the Universal Permanent Link Adapter (UPLA) to connect to the link-under-test and to ensure that the connection between your adapter and the link-under-test yields optimum NEXT performance, and more PASSes. Legacy Cat 6 connecting hardware has exhibited only limited interoperability. The early drafts of the Cat 6 standard did not define in great detail the specifications for Cat 6 plugs and Cat 6 jacks (sockets). In the absence of clearly defined performance specifications, many manufacturers launched their Cat 6 hardware as proprietary systems. That is, manufacturers developed Cat 6 jacks to compensate the crosstalk effects of their Cat 6 plugs such that the mated plug-jack connection would deliver Cat 6 performance in an installed link. These designs have shown only limited interoperability. Therefore Fluke Networks has supported the test requirements for such Cat 6 connecting hardware by developing a set of "personality modules".
