Designed for deployment at the network edge, this versatile switch contains two-gigabit ports for connecting to backbone switches or directly to servers to reduce traffic bottleneck, while its 10/100 ports connect up to 24 other devices to the network. The wire-speed backplane combined with flow control further reduces any traffic congestion on the switch.

The freeConnect Smart 2420 supports quality of service (QoS) which gives latency-sensitive traffic such as multimedia, video conferencing, and VoIP higher priority over standard traffic. The switch also supports VLANs for network segmentation and port trunking for increased bandwidth between switches.
