Double-conversion design offers superior reliability and protection
The IBM11000 UPS continuously conditions and controls AC output during normal operating conditions - regulating both voltage and frequency. Even when presented with severe power problems, UPS output remains within two percent of nominal voltage. Unlike other commercially-available UPS topologies, this UPS design fully protects connected equipment from all nine of the most common power problems: outages, sags, surges, spikes, brownouts, line noise, frequency variation, switching transients and harmonic distortion. With a wide range of acceptable input voltages, this UPS does not depend on batteries to smooth out power fluctuations. Batteries are conserved for those times when utility power is highly unstable or completely out.
Get more usable power for every utility dollar
The IBM11000 UPS provides the right level of power protection for the conditions of the moment - optimizing for both efficiency and performance. The UPS has selectable high efficiency and converter modes of operation. In high efficiency mode, the UPS monitors incoming power and stands ready to automatically transfer to standard double-conversion (or normal) operation as needed. In this operation mode, the UPS can operate at up to 96percent efficiency under normal conditions - and 93 percents or greater efficiency when poor power conditions require the UPS to work harder. As a result, the UPS uses less energy and dissipates less heat, which in turn reduces power and cooling costs.
Extend runtime during power outages
During a power outage, internal batteries in the UPS keep loads running long enough to transition to generator power or gracefully shut down systems. Add an external battery module (EBM) to deliver extended runtime. The 3U battery module is hot-swappable and can be replaced at any time without interrupting UPS operation and load protection.
Maximize battery backup time for critical systems
The IBM11000 UPS supports independent control of load segments. With this feature, you can manage scheduled shut-downs and sequential startups of protected loads. During a power outage, you could shut down power to less essential loads to extend battery backup time for more critical devices. When this capability is used with an optional network card, you can remotely re-boot locked-up network equipment. Now simply access the UPS over the network and toggle the password-protected load segment controller to get your network back online.
Improved energy management with a unified view
IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager (AEM) provides an array of features that allow power and thermal trending analysis for improved power management. By plugging systems into an IBMUPS, AEM is able to collect power information for each device, presenting a more complete view of energy usage within the data center. With access to accurate, detailed information on power usage right at their fingertips, IT and facility managers are now able to manage their data centers for optimal energy-efficiency, migrating workloads to eliminate hotspots or transfer work from underutilized systems to conserve energy.
