IBM's mobile document management solution allows mobile professionals to access their important documents virtually anytime, anywhere. The cornerstone of the solution is a software program called IBM NuOffice for Lotus Domino. NuOffice is a software solution that will expand the document management capabilities of mobile Lotus Notes users. From a Notes client, users can access and control any compatible office machine on the network -- whether it is located at company headquarters, a customer's office, or at home.
A NuOffice user can access any enabled machine via the Internet, LAN or WAN from a personal productivity application such as Lotus 1-2-3 or Microsoft Word or a Lotus Notes Client. NuOffice allows print jobs to be sent directly to any connected, compatible printer at any geographic location. Through a discovery process, NuOffice can locate any locally or remotely attached compatible equipment. Documents and images read by remote scanners, copiers or fax machines can be forwarded to Notes mail boxes or stored in a shared Notes database.
IBM's mobile document solution installs on top of Notes. Thus, all features and benefits of the Notes infrastructure, such as replication, security and access control are automatically available. Additionally, users already familiar with the Notes user interface can easily use this solution. It is based on the Salutation architecture, which is an open industry standard. Thus, a multitude of various MFP devices can be seamlessly integrated into an enterprise network. Because IBM's mobile document solution includes scan, print and fax software in one product, and works with all Salutation-enabled multi-function peripherals (MFPs), there is no need to buy and install a new software application for each new MFP and function installed on the network.
