The IronKey Anti-Malware Service is an optional offering for IronKey Enterprise customers that complements the built-in active self defense features on every IronKey device. With the IronKey Anti-Malware Service, in addition to AutoRun file checking and read-only defenses, IronKey Enterprise drives will actively check every file on the device each time they are used.
Enterprise-class automatic Malware scanning
The IronKey Anti-Malware Service provides an onboard, portable malware scanning application for enterprise devices, plus a malware signature download service. The client-side software is an integrated application on the IronKey drive that automatically loads and scans the drive. The scan is initiated according to a policy-controlled event, such as unlocking the drive. The network-side service allows administrators to manage the policy for the scanner, and tells the client when and where to get new malware signature files as they become available.
When enabled, the IronKey Anti-Malware Service activates software on the IronKey Enterprise device. This application, which runs in the background, scans all files on the IronKey drive to identify potential infections. The onboard IronKey application is built on the McAfee scanning engine. It uses a local signature database - provided from McAfee - that is periodically downloaded from the online IronKey Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) management system. The device scanning application can be configured to scan only at startup or at the frequency selected by the administrator. If desired, the scanning application can also scan the disk of the host computer into which the IronKey drive is inserted.
Activation and Management of the IronKey Anti-Malware Service is easy to perform using the Web-based interface of the IronKey Enterprise management console. The policy is configurable with a couple of easy clicks. When you activate the license in your management account the scanning application automatically activates on the devices.
Easy to manage
The IronKey Anti-Malware Service can be activated for all users or targeted to a selected group. Every group policy you create gives you the option to activate the service. Creating a global policy is just as easy. The IronKey Anti-Malware Service gives an organization the assurance that its IronKey drives will be thoroughly inspected each use before they can be unlocked or re-attached to any of the computers on the organization's network.
