The 2-Module Power Chassis features a single internal universal AC or 18-60VDC power supply and provides housing for all models of iConverter modules. When equipped with an iConverter management module, the 2-Module Chassis can be remotely managed In-Band or Out-of-Band via SNMP or Telnet, or locally managed via the serial port. When the chassis is managed In-Band remotely, no additional management network connection is required, thus providing a clear demarcation point between the service provider's NID (network interface device) and the customer's equipment at the Customer Premise (CP).

When used in concert with a 19-Module or 5-Module Chassis at the central office of a Metro Area Network (or the core of a Enterprise LAN), the 2-Module Chassis provides ease of use, end-to-end management and equipment integration.

The 2-Module Chassis Backplane allows sharing of Ethernet data between two installed iConverter modules. Installed modules that are equipped with Ethernet Backplane ports have the ability to connect to each other via the chassis' Ethernet Backplane and facilitate a variety of flexible network applications including unmanaged, Out-of-Band managed, In-Band managed and multi-port configurations.

The iConverter 2-Module Chassis supports the entire family of iConverter manageable media converters and switches. All iConverter modules are hot swappable and can be mounted in a 19-Module (2U, 3.5 inch high) or 5-Module (1U, 1.75 inch high) rack-mountable chassis (19-inch or 23-inch) with any combination of redundant AC, 24VDC or 48VDC power supplies. It can also be mounted in a 2-Module AC or 18 to 60VDC powered chassis or in a 1-Module AC/DC powered chassis.
