NetDVR's non-proprietary, open-architecture technology enables universal camera and hardware support. Practically any IP camera, by all leading manufacturers, can be connected and managed via the NetDVR server; in addition, NetDVR also supports all standard video compression formats - MPEG4, MJPEG, H.263, and Wavelet. This allows users to optimize their investment by choosing the hardware and cameras from an extensive list of manufacturers and models.

Included with NetDVR is OnSSI's NetMatrix alert monitor, which enables live monitoring in 'blank screen monitoring' mode - video streams are displayed only upon event (motion detection or externally generated) on users' video clients or dedicated alert monitor screens, allowing immediate response to live events.
