Strengths: Definately the fan Cooling! Works well!

Weaknesses: LED in the wrong place, hard to see

Summary: The case is well built, with a frame made of DuPont Zytel glass reinforced resin for strength. I am very pleased with overall look and operation, easy to install drive and fan cooling is great!

Metro.

Strengths: Runs silently.

Weaknesses: None.

Summary: I purchased this enclosure to hold the Hitachi DeskStar 7K1000 - Hard drive I bought to extend the storage capacity of my Tivo-HD DVR. It worked flawlessly. I am very pleased with the final result. CostCentral did a great job processing the order and shipping the enclosure.

Jeff

Strengths: Extremely quiet. Well designed airflow. Attractive packaging.

Weaknesses: LED difficult to see in well lit room.

Summary: Before purchasing the Antec VERIS MX-1, I installed a Hitachi 1TB Ultrastar HD in an all-aluminum conduction type enclosure connected to a DirecTV HR20 via the eSATA port. Not only could I hear the drive spinning during quite periods of a movie/show, I could fry an egg on the surface of the enclosure. The Antec VERIS MX-1 was a breeze to set up with my existing HD. It was easily connected to my HR20 and it is performing beautifully. It is extremely quite, and does a fantastic job of keeping the HD cool. This is perfect for my home theater application (or for any application where your drives are constantly spinning or noise is a factor).

El Scrappo

Strengths: Very quiet operation, offers both USB 2.0 and eSATA, high quality Antec construction, attractive case, active cooling.

Weaknesses: Cost. Cannot exceed 750GB hard drives per Antec's specs.

Summary: Excellent external enclosure. Runs quiet, actively cooled, and one of the few enclosures that reliably provides both USB 2.0 and eSATA functionality with no degradation in SATA read/write speeds. Fairly easy to assemble. When I got the unit, the eSATA did not work properly. After downloading new Nvidia drivers for my motherboard (Asus P5N-E), the eSATA worked like a charm. Great unit. Antec needs to drop the price though -- it's a bit pricey.

JRjr

Strengths: Top of the line

Weaknesses: none I've found

Summary: This is my 2nd MX-1 now and both are exactly what I'd been looking for, minus the cost of lesser competitors. If you're looking for a great HDD back-up solution for large projects requiring multiple drives, this is by far the cheapest and best way to go. And if you don't know about eSata, it's amazingly fast. I did have to upgrade my PC with the eSata card, but it made my system work as though I had all INTERNAL drives, but without the heat issue. Be sure to get a card with at least 2 eSata ports.
