LDAP allows the machine to integrate with a directory server to look up contacts and e-mail addresses. Documents can then be scanned as PDF, TIFF or JPEG formats and sent anywhere in the world using scan to e-mail or iFAX. To keep your data safe and private there's SSL-Secure Socket Layer for secure printing (encrypted data). SSL is a protocol often used for secure Internet shopping and banking. By printing through IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) the data is encrypted at the PC and sent through the network to the printer, then decoded and printed.
