The DR-2580C provides black and white, 24-bit color, grayscale and duplex scanning, all with sharp, clear and detailed images, whether for graphics, photos or the lightest text. Features like high resolution (up to 600 dpi) scanning, auto shading and a Color Dropout feature that automatically removes red, green or blue provides control at your fingertips.
Scan light text, signatures, pencil marks and notes without problems using the advanced text enhancement mode. The DR-2580C also has a "remove punch holes" function that automatically eliminates unsightly marks so that you always get clean, professional scans.

Summary: The scanner scans quickly at modest resolution, but at normal 300 or 600 dpi...it is much slower, although way better than a flatbed scanner. You can leave 50 pages of documents, come back in an hour and everything is scanned.
Pictures are okay to scan at 600 dpi, but sometimes it leaves tiny streaks of white lines if dust collects on the lens. It still is a good trade off to scanning on a flatbed.
We are in the process to digitize all our files and have been more than pleased with this scanner.

Strengths: Fast, automatic, duplex, color,works with Adobe Acrobat
Weaknesses: Unit itself is difficult, but not impossible to use with more than 1 page. Imagination necessary
Summary: This is a top of the line fantastic little machine that is fast, color, USB2, single, duplex, auto feed and manual too. Works with all versions of Adobe Acrobat Professional. No warmup time. Only drawback is that it's a bit difficult to use if you are trying to scan many pages at once. You need to lay the scanner down and elevate the sheets so they will feed in. Other than that it's great. The docs process quickly. I've been using the one at work for about a month now and am very impressed. Just lost a bid on ebay, but the item doesn't come up that often (probably because it's very good)
