Strengths: Very solid device and offers a lot of features for the money. Support for VLAN's L2L VPN, basic IDS. Supports NAT as well as PAT.
Weaknesses: Requires quite a bit of knowledge to configure correctly as well as to use the advanced features. Troubleshooting and debugging requires more than just basic knowledge of configuration.
Summary: Good device offering great protection. This is not an entry-level device.

Strengths: More ports than previous PIX models. Good price point for the base unit.
Weaknesses: Additional features (more VLANs) cost more than they should.
Summary: An overall solid unit that provides great performance and usability. VLAN support lacks full featured DMZ access between outside and inside networks unless you pay more for the license that includes increased VLAN support (which is way too expensive for that feature alone).
