Weaknesses: - Slow, even on gigabit network. - Firmware upgrades delete all data. - Fan runs 24/7 and does not cycle down.

Strengths: Light and compact; fits on my desk behind the monitor, out of the way.

Weaknesses: Sometimes a little slow to open databases in applications. As much as 45 seconds delay before the application opens.

Summary: Great product overall. I'm very happy with it. I provide political campaign mailing lists to several customers. My main computer failed recently and I had to reformat the C drive and reinstall everything. Meanwhile, since the data, are on my network, I was able to continue working on a second computer, as though nothing happened. I'm ecstatic about that, and so are my customers who didn't experience delays receiving their work do to my computer outage. This is why I bought the NAS device, and it performed flawlessly for me. Thank you D-Link.

Summary: Installed in less than 2 min. Used in a small office for file storage using fault tolerant RAID configuration with 2 mirrored 500GB SATA drives.
