D-Link Disapointment

Strengths: Easy setup and cables included. Hot key switch eliminating need to press a button to switch between PCs. Basic mouse and keyboard switch works.

Weaknesses: Biggest problem is that this switch did not support all of the functionality in my Microsoft Natural Ergonoic Keyboard 4000. None of the extra features of this keyboard were supported. I called the helpdesk in India and "George" my support person put me on infinate hold while searching for another D-Link KVM that would work with my keyboard after instructing me to replace my ergonomic keyboard with a basic USB keyboard. That defeated the purpose of buying a KVM. I returned the switch and am still waiting for my credit card to be credited for this purchase.

Summary: Basic funtionality of KVM were present in this cost effective solution and nice to have sound switch. However, the inability to support my ergonomic keyboards features made this KVM useless to me. I found another KVM which also supports switching between two USB external devices like a printer and scanner. Unfortunately, this KVM does not support that either.

Andy Mittal

Strengths: none found

Weaknesses: does not work with most USB keyboards and many mouses, too unreliable. Don't waste your money.

Summary: tried with 3 different keyboards but it would not work. I wasted all day just trying to get it to work. And I am not illiterate, I am an engineer. Called DLINK 6 times and wasted another 3 hours they could not and would not help me. Low priority item? Probably. No solutions? Likely. Don't waste your maney and time, go for Belkin or some other brand.
