D-Link RangeBooster G Desktop Adapter WDA-2320

Connect to a fast and secure wireless network by adding this D-Link RangeBooster G desktop adapter to your desktop PC. Access your network's high-speed Internet connection while also getting secure access to shared files, music, and photos from other computers in your network.

Built with RangeBooster G Technology, this wireless desktop adapter delivers faster wireless signal rates and better reception than most other 802.11g devices. Having a faster connection gives you more time to enjoy listening to music and watching videos rather than spending time waiting for files to finish transferring. With better wireless reception, you can connect to the network from farther distances.

This desktop adapter offers total network protection by supporting WEP and WPA encryption. These features safeguard your data and privacy by giving you access to a secure wireless network.

Set up this wireless desktop adapter in minutes with D-Link's Quick Setup Wizard. In addition, D-Link's new utility detects available wireless networks so you can quickly connect to a network. It keeps track of networks used most often so you can quickly rejoin them. This desktop adapter is backward compatible with 802.11b standard, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of wireless routers.

Offering faster performance, greater reception and total network protection, the D-Link RangeBooster G desktop adapter is an excellent choice for adding enhanced and secure wireless connectivity to your desktop PC.

Strengths: Works like advertised, simple to install and set up with the included software. I used it to adapt a Dell PC to an Apple Time Capsule.

Weaknesses: None that I have noticed

Summary: Would not hesitate to purchase another D-Link product. Works very well for what the cost is.

Strengths: I have this adapter about 15 feet away from my router with one wall in between and I frequently see 100% signal strength. The lowest I have seen has been around 86%. I like the WPA2 capability also.

Weaknesses: This is advertised everywhere to have a transmission speed of 108 Mbps however I think a lot of us will not see that. I am using a Cradlepoint MBR1000 "N" technology router set up to "Mixed 802.11 N,G,or B" mode and automatic transmission rate and I always see 54 Mbps. Upon investigation it seems like this Dlink utilizes a G+ (for lack of a better word) technology that is somewhat proprietary and will only work with certain routers. If I am wrong on this and anyone has gotten this to work with a cradlepoint router I would like to know about it.

Summary: Overall I think it is quite good. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I can't get 108 Mbps. I don't even need that speed but I felt like it was somewhat misrepresented when it is advertised at that speed without disclaimers.

Strengths: Very reliable. Easy Vista installation (avoid CD installation) Works well with D-Link DI-643M.

Weaknesses: Range is on par with WDA-1320. Expected superior range/performance (vs. WDA-1320) but not obtainable.

Summary: Don't even bother attempting to install from provided CD with Vista. The program had trouble finding the correct dll and would not run. Just allow Vista to locate the driver and perform the installation. Works like a champ!!

Strengths: +great signal strength +greater download time than 54mps wireless adapters +great price +very good very good very good

Weaknesses: not as fast as cat5 :)

Summary: I've been using this unit for several months now and I am very content. With its performance. I run this unit on my desktop which is almost on the floor, right next to a wall (a corner of my bedroom to be more specific), then there are two more walls before my computer and the wireless router. I get excellent signal all the time on my windows xp box. Very satisfied, good price.
