Strengths: 2 GE/mini-GBIC interfaces, managed, VLAN aware, very low cost POE

Weaknesses: Web smart interface not as robust as traditional D-Link web management interface.

Summary: The DES-1228P is an inexpensive POE switch with all the bells and whistles you'd expect in a managed ethernet switch.

Summary: Very impressed with this product, recently someone told me Net Gear was recommended to them for a 24 port switch over yours, I happy to say they trust my opinion because I wont even consider any other comparable switch! Thanks for the great pricing!~ We will be ordering more in the future as well!

Strengths: Solid performance... fast, easy setup; flexible configurations for DHCP or not; 1GB support on both fiber and copper; addressable IP; PoE on ALL ports makes easy configurations, QoS and VPN support great for hybrid VoIP and data intensive environments.

Weaknesses: Unnecessarily loud fans (4 per unit.) Needs to be in a data center or enclosed rack away from people. We initially had three in an enclosed portable rack which was rolled into a closet. Still annoying to adjacent offices. Now happily tucked away into a new data closet with better sound isolation. Fans should be throttled with temperature but always run full speed.

Summary: Great product, great price... likely the best value for the money if full PoE and level II management is required.

Strengths: 4 Gigabit Ports (most only have 2).

Weaknesses: Fan noise (yikes). It sounds like a jet plane.

Summary: You need to make sure that this switch is away from users (behind closed doors), as the noise will make them crazy. It is quite loud.
