Strengths: Very easy to install. Easy to bend the cable to the shape it needs to be and to get it to stay in place.

Weaknesses: The kit doesn't come with hardware to lock multiple items on the same cable.

Strengths: It works as a lock and is compact enough to carry around in your laptop bag.

Weaknesses: I heard that these locks are easy to pick. I have never tried it but it's something to keep in mind. There is also some assembly required but it's not difficult.

Summary: It's not a simple pre-assembled lock like other manufacturers make but it does work. Once you get it assembled, it is functional and affective. I use it whenever I travel.

Weaknesses: It's only as safe as the desk/table, etc you attach it to, so don't attach it to something flimsy and easy to steal

Summary: I trust HP's quality so I bought this item. I'm satisfied with it. It's very solid. I think it will be very hard for someone to break it even with some handy tools. However, it is somewhat complicated and the price is not so friendly. But after the rebate (hope it comes), it's a hot deal!

Summary: This lock is very thick and strong, and there are several different ways for it to be mounted. However, I had difficulty figuring out how to install the lock. While instructions were provided, they were a little difficult to follow. Once the lock is properly installed, it works flawlessly.

Strengths: Very heavy duty black plastic coated steel cable. Very well made and sturdy. Comes with adapter to secure your monitor or laptop. (Adapter key seems kind of cheesy). Can secure the cables of some of your peripherals.

Weaknesses: Very poor instructions. The opening for cables to go in is small, so you can't put much more than your mouse and keyboard cable, and maybe a USB cable through the opening.

Summary: The device itself seems to be as good as can be expected for something of this nature and perhaps better than the average. It is not for travelers though as it is too heavy to lug around and is really designed to have one of its ends connected to a base that is screwed into a PC chassis. The instructions were pretty much just a bunch of diagrams with arrows pointing all over the place and hard to follow. No academic effort was put into these instructions. The wasn't really any text; just diagrams. In one case the diagram of the cable was inconsistent with what the cable actually looks like. The diagrams were kind of small and had some specific areas "magnified" but even with those areas magnified, it was difficult to tell what they were trying to explain. In one diagram, one part was labeled "A" and another was labeled "B", but nowhere was "A" or "B" defined nor did they explain what they were trying to accomplish. It almost looked like it was a bunch of variations of the product diagram, drawn by different graphic designers, and then kind of haphazardly thrown together on paper at the last minute and called the instruction sheet. It took me messing around with the pieces until I figured out how the pieces would have to be oriented in order for all come together. I just don't think they did a good job of making it clear. For example, it was absolutely NOT clear to me that you had to insert a SCREW through the lock on the PC chassis (I think that lock is called the NG35, but that is only a guess). The diagram that shows the screw is so little and so poor that it really took my imagination to figure it out. A couple of times the diagrams refer to the cable pointing off towards a mysterious "custom lock", but no where are you told what the "custom lock" is. Maybe it's just me, but this was really poorly done. The lock is made by a company called Noblelocks dot com and you can find them on the internet and see their other products. On another note, CostCentral was FABULOUS! I am a very happy customer!

Summary: it is a reliable product with excellent quality and can be applied to many different instruments, such as laptop, desktop. it provides a convincing safety to my laptop. two sorts of adaptor enhance its use. it is not that big, so it is comfortable to take it along with me during the travel.
