Weaknesses: Custom HP firmware limits speed & disables NCQ

Summary: This is a Western Digital SATA drive w/ what appears to be proprietary firmware, which makes it compatable with my other hard drives sold under the same HP part # in the same array, but does limit some of the features of the native drive as outlined above (there are other limitations also). I was somewhat dismayed when I discovered that it's a completely different brand/model of HD from the other 2 drives in my server (and there was no way of knowing this when I bought it, since they are all caged & sold as the same HP part # w/o any identifying info on the actual HD inside the cage) but so far, it seems to play well with the others. My RAID 5 array consists of this drive & 2 similarly-spec'd Seagate HDs. Very stable, however. Haven't had it long enough to judge reliability. Easy install in ML310 G5 server hot-swap bay, reasonably quiet, and recognized by HP Firmware CD.
