Strengths: works fine; no more cleaning ball mice

Weaknesses: stiff cord; very sensitive

Summary: There were no instructions, but then I didn't need any. I just unplugged my old mouse and plugged a new one into a USB connector. After less than a minute, Windows reported that the new hardware was ready for use, and indeed it was - no reboot required. In my limited testing so far, it seems to work fine, although there are two things I'm not wild about. The cord is stiffer than my previous one; I'm wondering if using it on a cluttered desk, for example, will make cursor positioning tougher because something pressing against the cord will sometimes cause it to move the mouse slightly. Also, as I read somewhere about laser mice and fully expected, this mouse is "jumpier"; it is more sensitive to movement than my previous ball mouse, but I think there's every chance I will get used to it with a little practice. All in all, getting name-brand mice essentially for free after the rebate is a pretty good deal.

Strengths: Ergonomic design.

Weaknesses: Still a wired mouse.

Summary: Fits nicely in you palm. The wheel has the right amount of resistance and wheeling it is not loud ratcheting like my previous Logitech mouse.

Strengths: Responsive and tracks well on all sorts of surfaces.

Weaknesses: An average 2-button mouse. Relibable, but somewhat boring look and lack of features.

Summary: The HP Laser Mouse is a basic, no frills mouse that lives up to its name. It has two buttons and an optical trackball that is best suited for those who do daily routine tasks such as light web browsing and e-mail. Hardcore gamers and power users would be well-suited to look at higher-end models to fit their computing experience.

Strengths: Basic.

Weaknesses: Basic but good quality.

Summary: This is a mouse- not a GPS unit- it functions as a basic, 2 button mouse. It works well, doesn't skip, and get the job done. Highly recommended.
