Strengths: Solid construction, elegant design, great performance for the size (incredibly portable), reliable security features.
Weaknesses: Battery life is exceptional only when using the large capacity battery, which significantly increaes the size and weight of this machine, no optical drive, integrated graphics result in lackluster performance for certain applications.
Summary: I performed a significant amount of research looking for the right ultraportable laptop for me. I looked at laptops from Sony, Dell, Asus, HP, and others. Having already owned an IBM/Lenovo laptop, I knew they are solid, reiiable, and provide excellent performance for the money. This laptop, which is a good representation of the x61 series, does not disappoint. I use it primarily for internet and word processing, which it is more than capable of handling. My only complaints relate to shortcomings that are inherent in ultraportables. These machines are not meant to replace a desktop, and cannot be expected to run the latest games or graphics-intensive applications flawlessly. I recommend upgrading the memory in this machine; it ships with Windoes Vista and the increased memory improves performance considerably.
