Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter WGA600N
Mfg Part #: WGA600N

|
The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter gives wireless connection capabilities to any wired Ethernet-equipped game console. The Game Adapter can be used in several different ways. If you have an existing home wireless network and a cable or DSL Internet connection, the Game Adapter lets your Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 or 3, or GameCube attach to the network so you can get into online games without running wires to the game room. Or, use a pair of Game Adapters to form a "cable-less cable" between two game consoles for head-to-head gaming - in the same room, or all the way across the house. There's also a special "Wireless LAN Party" mode to connect several consoles at once.
It's completely driver-free, so it works on any platform. Since there are no drivers to load, setup is a snap. Just configure the network settings through your PC's web browser, plug it into your game box, and go. The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter provides lag-free gaming with incredible communication speeds when connected to a Wireless-N Access Point or Router. It can also connect to Wireless-A, -B, or -G devices.
Spend your time gaming, not stringing wires, with the Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter.

Strengths: Ease of setting it up if you're running Windows.
Weaknesses: No way of setting it up if you're running Mac.
Summary: I have Mac. The setup disk is not compatible with Mac, so I had to find a Windows computer to set up the security features. Once the initial setup was complete, the adapter works flawlessly. Very fast. It would be nice if there were more than just 1 ethernet connection. The physical size of the adapter could have been smaller.

Strengths: Gives me a good connection
Weaknesses: Hard setup process
Summary: This is a great product, it is small and compact, and great for Xbox Live. I play on my t.v. downstairs in my living room, and my wireless router is located upstairs, and I still get an excellent connection even with the long distance between my gaming adapter and wireless router.

Strengths: Easy to set up, small in size, works like a charm.
Weaknesses: Haven't found any yet.
Summary: I purchased a wireless n router at the same time and have been very pleased with the performance both on my xbox 360 and playstation 2. Set up is simple and seamless and the performance is exactly as described.

Strengths: This unit apparently allows faster speed than the older version. Setup in 5 minutes and I'm connected without issue. I highly recommend this unit.
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I had used Netgear Powerline in the past to connect my HD-XA2 to the internet but after about 9 months it just stopped working. Decided to go wireless. Initially bought the SMCWEBT-G EZ Connect g Wireless Ethernet Bridge. I had contemplated the Linksys WGA54G Wireless-G Gaming Adapter but due to customer reviews on other sites I went with the SMC instead. It failed miserably. Setup seemed simple enough but even calling technical support at SMC failed to enable the unit to connect to my network.
I own 3 of these, highly recommended.

Strengths: Effortless setup, can be used on gaming consoles or as wireless internet access for computers without a wireless card.
Weaknesses: No external antenna, must orient unit for maximum signal strength.
Summary: Great little unit, did exactly what it was supposed to do with no setup problems.
