Strengths: Very Good wireless card, netgear utility included w this product makes it easy to connect to all hot-spots in your area(you can see signal strength, secure or 'open' hot-spots, ssid etc) If possible, it is better to use wind xp zero config utility which is incl. w wind xp rather then the netgear smart wizard since this Netgear utility is a resource hog; choosing the xp zero config tool will allow your system to run cooler while conserving available resources(memory)

Weaknesses: unstable connection is very easily broken by 2.4ghz wireless phones and microwave ovens(interferes with wireless signal)

Summary: Overall very good card, though very susceptible to interference gives you a fast connection with your laptop if installed properly

Strengths: fast and consistent connections

Weaknesses: you can't get to rid-off a pop-up that you are already connected everytime you turn on your computer. there's an option to turn it off but it doesn't work. other than that, this is a workhorse, at least at close range where i installed it.

Summary: Netgear's RangeMax 240 Wireless Notebook Adapter has what the typical user can get in an inexpensive package. Fast connection, stable and consistent and easy to install. I have installed it as the primary wireless device for my home theater and I cannot say more. Best bang for the buck. On the downside, there's an annoying pop-up that even the tech support can't get rid-off. It appears everytime you turn on your pc. It's not malicious though but still annoying to say the lease. Software programming glitch, perhaps.

True abt susceptible to interfernce, but use 'windows xp zero config' tool rather than netgear's utility to save you resources and allow your laptop to run much cooler also, go to start, run, type msconfig, then click startup tab, uncheck netgear's utilty(wpnt511.exe)from startup tab, then restart laptop and make sure you check'don't show me this msg again' abt using msconfig this will stop netgear wizard popup-
