Mfg Part #: XE102GNA

|
For a truly simple way to bring the Internet to any room in your home, look no further than NETGEAR's Wall-Plugged Ethernet Bridge. It plugs into an electrical outlet and uses your existing electrical wiring to give your entire household access to your Cable/DSL connection. With no expensive new wiring or cabling to install, your family can surf the Web, participate in online gaming, send and receive e-mail, and share files and printers, all from different rooms at the same time. Uncomplicated and very quick to install, it plugs right into a wall outlet, reducing clutter and saving valuable desk space. Designed for ease of use, it has new, easy-to-read icon LEDs, and protects your network communications from eavesdroppers and hackers, while not increasing your electricity bill.
Wall-Plugged Ethernet Bridge networks your PCs and shares a Cable/DSL Internet connection using existing 110V electrical outlets in your home. Automatic rate adaptation chooses the best data rate depending on the level of interference caused by other electrical appliances. It is compatible with 10 Mbps or 10/100 Mbps Ethernet products, and it also works seamlessly with NETGEAR Cable/DSL routers.
This kit includes two Wall-Plugged Ethernet Bridges XE102.

Strengths: Works very well anywhere I put it.
Weaknesses: None that I have found
Summary: This item is used to take a cat 5 cable and hook it into your existing electrical wiring at your home. It allows one to have an electronic device that requires a wired internet connection to be in one room while your modem/hub is in the other room. It's Great!!!

Summary: This kit is the perfect solution for networking two computers with one internet connection. Say goodbye to unsightly ethernet cables snaking through older houses which haven't been pre-wired for cable/high-speed internet....like mine! The kit I ordered from CostCentral is a back-up for the Netgear XE102G that has happily been humming along for over two years now. Great product.
Thank you CostCentral for offering the XE102G at such an attractive price too!

Strengths: It is easy to install and works well.
Weaknesses: I don't see any.
Summary: We live in a brownstone with the internet connection in the basement. The wifi barely gets up to the top floor and there was tremendous competition from other wifi users. The electric wire works better and faster.

Strengths: It is easy to set up and works.
Weaknesses: The units are bulky. You may have to use extension plugs to install if you are using power strips.
Summary: This is a 4 story house located in NYC, with a second internet connection in the basement. While the wifi works, it has a lot of competition from wifi's in adjoining buildings, particularly on the 4th floor. This setup is faster and much better.

Strengths: Works excellent and sets up as fast as you can plug it in.
Weaknesses: Do not expect it to work if any of the power line is buried underground, such as between a house and a detached garage.
Summary: Assuming you do not use the encryption software to setup a secure network, this item is truly ?plug and use?. I would recommend it to anyone that cannot or will not use a wireless network but needs to network devices in different rooms without drilling holes and running cables.
